Yeah I don't know what the title means either... Oh, hi there! Sillyevan from SiF here.
This blog has covered topics from triumphs and achievements, to death and trolling. Such is the life of SiF (and anywhere really)... full of ups and downs. If anyone reading this has seen the community pages of the Sodor Island Fansite, they will know we do a yearly report reflecting on how our community has changed and grown. I think it's wonderful to remember the past (even its imperfections), but then again I was born about 70 years after I should have been.
Let me cut to the point of my little excursion in this blog. Recent tragic events in the world of entertainment (no, I don't mean "Speed Racer") have opened my eyes and curiosity. It seems that every year something profound occurs around me that somehow involves my love and nostalgic enthusiasm for TtTE (none of this Thomas & Friends crap). Take a notice at what has happened within the past year since the end of May.
April/May of 2007
- Thomas and the Magic Railroad early script is discovered.
- The online community reaches out into the production world for what seems the first time and communicates its love for Thomas to producers, directors, actors, composers, and model makers for the series and movie.
Later 2007
- Britt Alcroft, David Mitton, Steve Asquith, and Robert Cardona communicate with SiF and share their stories and experiences involving a little blue tank engine with the online community.
Even Later 2007 into 2008
- TUGS DVD compaign goes forward thanks to the community's new contacts (that otherwise would not have been made if not for TatMR)
May 2008
- Mr. Cardona takes interest in the community's TUGS DVD campaign
- David Mitton...
It's very easy to lose sight of just what role fate and chance play in our lives. It is very easy to take these amazing occurances and these people and experiences for granted. It is also very easy to become jealous and lose sight of what it is you're looking for...
I don't think it's being a member of SiF that allowed me this amazing look into the world of Thomas, I'm sure I'd have found the Fansite somehow ;-) ... but I'm pretty sure that it was our combined passion for a little blue tank engine that let us uncover old mysteries, new information, encounter obstacles, and form new friendships.
For what it's worth,
Thank you.
~ Sillyevan
P. S.
Which reminds me... about reaching out to new contacts. Something tells me I'm gonna need some extra shiny nickles.
