Open House and Wales Week...

Well our 2nd SiF Open House came and went without a glitch. It wasn't as busy as the last time as most visitors are more apt to spend more time away doing other things during the warm summer weather vs. winter. Not to say that we didn't get a flurry of new account requests! You can read Ryan's assessment in the Fansite's News section. He and others were busy working out schedules and logistics in preparation for the long anticipated 2nd Annual...

WALES WEEK!
Several SiFers are heading to or assembling at their rendez-vous point in Wales as we speak. A week for SiF friends old and new to meet and get together to just enjoy the rail sights and each other's company. A big letdown this year is Fox's unexpected but necessary withdrawal from the festivities, but he'll be there in spirit as with everyone else who wasn't able to attend. From the North American side, Evan joins them this year (A few weeks ago, Floridian DealAjani met up with the crew at Didcot for that SiF meet!).

This event is a welcome and well-deserved release from the tumultous year 2008 has proven to have been so far.

We won't have to wait a week before we hear snippets of their daily escapades. We're certain to hear from Ryan, as he will have access to the web during their stay. I'm looking forward to reading the Guv'nor's reports ;-)

These formal get-togethers make me wonder if this is how the big Star Trek conventions first started out as in the 1970's. What will these SiF meets evolve into 5-10 years from now?

But enough of my barmy talk! Here's wishing the lads safe travelling to and fro, beautiful weather, good food and pleasant memories for all!

Best as always :)
